Construction of 4th Street median islands complete

Madera Water Tower

The City of Madera has achieved another milestone in their ongoing efforts to beautify the city while stepping up water conservation and road safety efforts.

At a City Council meeting in November of 2014, Mayor Poythress and the City Council directed staff to proceed with a new desert landscape pallet approved by Madera’s Beautification Committee. Additionally, Council supported a shift to smarter irrigation techniques which include the installation of point-of-use bubblers in lieu of spray heads. The demonstration project includes two locations. One site is the median islands that stretch along 4th Street, and the other will be located at Pine and Pecan Avenues. The purpose of the project is to analyze installation costs, water conservation data, on-going maintenance expenses and public perception.
