Pay rates for all individuals employed by the City of Madera are adopted by the City Council by resolution. A summary table of all current approved pay rates can be found below.
The City of Madera’s labor relations processes are governed by the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (MMBA). In compliance with MMBA, the City’s labor relations officer meets and confers with the various bargaining units to negotiate wages, hours and terms and conditions of employment for all represented City employees based on bargaining authority provided by the City Council. These negotiations result in memorandums of understanding (MOUs) regarding these topics, which can be found below:
In addition to the labor MOUs, the City has negotiated a Workers’ Compensation Alternative Dispute Resolution Agreement, also known as a Carve-Out, with our two law enforcement labor units. This agreement provides for an alternative to the State’s Workers’ Compensation System and is designed to provide a more stream-lined experience for employees requiring care in the Workers’ Compensation System, reducing timelines and ultimately providing a better experience for both the employee and employer.
